In all I attempt, a portrait is most challenging. Meeting the expectations of the recipient
can be difficult. Before beginning, I feel I must know something about this person;
mannerisms, temperament , expressions. Without this, I may never give this person the
true 'self' they deserve. Because of this, the few portraits I have attempted  recently have
been of people I intimately know. ( with the exception of "Jim", a commissioned work for
a friend. )
